Sparks White Elephant Gift Exchange

To cap off 2006, the Sparks small group held its White Elephant gift exchange at June's Place. The night was defined by great food, creative gifts, and awesome fellowship. Some snapshots below:

Hmmmm....which gift to pick first.

Joe taking stab at picking the first gift and he chooses.....

a Poker set. We will put that to good use.

Jenny up next to pick her gift.

And she selects a French Press coffee maker!

Unfortunatelty, her joy is short lived as Ray steals the gift away.

Shirly picks next.

Shirley cannot stop laughing because of the gift she picks.....

A DVD on George Bush. Ha!

Eli chooses his gift....

Ben chooses his gift. He is debating whether he should be happy or sad.

Ben decides to be happy with what he got.

Considering how confusing SF streets are, this is a practicle gift.

Anthony content with his big stash of Ghiradelli choclates.

Christine up next. She picks the gift with the flashy wrapping....

which is from Victoria's Secret.

Christine checking to see what is inside.

Christine is shocked to find some interesting form of clothing on the inside!

Joyce and Ray sharing a good laugh.

Angela laughing at Christine's gift selection

Chris Hong with his gift card.

Dave reaching out and stealing a gift from someone.

Janise was ecstatic about her gift.

Pencil case

Another Victoria's Secret gift package.

Bottle of wine that Ed got.

Ray stealing the Invincible's DVD from Ed, one of many gifts that were stolen from him.

It was a great time of fellowship and a great way to end 2006. Can't wait for 2007 to begin!

Small Group Life

The past five months have been a tremendous blessing as we have been worshiping and building community together. One of the greatest joys about small group is getting the chance to discover and know one another beyond the superficial layer-and one way to build that fellowship is through great food! Jenny was gracious enough to provide food for the group for 3 consecutive weeks! Needless to say...the food was goooood! Thanks Jenny!

San Francisco Food Bank

One of the things that we wanted to commit as a small group is to engage in community service. Aside from meeting together and serving in the church,  community service allows us to tangible apply our faith beyond the four walls of the church. So to start things off, some members of Sparks served at the San Francisco Food Bank
where packed at total of 3,700 pounds of food for homeless shelters and other community service organizations.

The SF Food Bank was only the tip of the iceberg. More to come in 2007!

Community Service at the Food Bank

Looks like Costco on the inside.

Tons of Food to Pack. Since I was starving...I was able to steal a few pieces of
salami. It tasted goood:)

Tons of left over cereal. This would be enough for one person to last a year or more.

Angela falling "asleep" when the supervisor is explaining what we were to do.

Phil all smiles.

Jun was a taping machine.

Acting pretty: Liz, Thomas, and Tim modeling the latest hand and headware.

Angela getting ready to pack some meat.

Packing meat assembly line style.

So what was our reward for our hard work? Free sweaters courtesy of Jonathan Kang!

3,700 lbs in 3 hours! I believe the supervisor said that was the most meat packed in that time span!
Not only did we have fun, but it is encouraging to know none of that food will go to waste.

Minature Gold Outing

For fun, the gang went out to Malibu Grand Prix for some go-carting and minature golf.

Ben and Ray eagerly waiting to get on board.

Ben ready to roll out

After go-carting, the group switched to minature golf.

Christine showing her putting "game"

Grrrr....Angela and Janise saying "Don't mess with us on the putting green."

Girls hitting

Joe teeing it up

Ray, Ben and Winchell debating who was the faster driver.

This hole required us to hit uphill. Easier said than done.
It took Christine 20+ times to get the ball in the hole.

Winchell showing his amazing form

Wierd  hole: we had to hit the ball in the hole that had a moving poll.

Dave thwarted after 5+ attempts.
